About the Company:
At Mayfield Robotics, we make home robots that are joyful, useful, and inspiring. We move fast, we like and respect each other, and we have some very big ambitions. And we’re still growing.
We operate with all the best aspects of being a startup: independence, speed, transparency, teamwork, and a well-stocked kitchen. We also have the focus and discipline of a company that knows exactly where it’s going, without the distraction of fundraising (we’re wholly owned by a much larger company that loves what we’re doing, thinks long term, and mostly leaves us alone). We were founded in February of 2015, and we’re based in sunny Redwood City, California - the epicenter of both Silicon Valley and the future of robotics.
About the Role:
Do you like robots? As you know, they still can’t manufacture themselves. But if you do well enough at this, you could put yourself out of a job by making that a reality!
Mayfield’s Manufacturing team is increasing the capacity of our robot factory. We need someone to guide the software facet of building robots to ensure smooth deliveries to our eager customers. The goal is to ensure a smooth production line. This includes making sure the test stations on the line function properly, get updated securely and scale effectively to meet our throughput targets. You will ensure the correct software is put on each robot before it ships to a customer. Additionally, you will be responsible for collecting all the data from all the stations, getting the data into the correct systems and making sure the data is correct and complete so that the complete lifecycle of the robot can be tracked. There is no glory here: If you excel at your job, things will just work.
Come help us meet our excited customers demand for cute, adorable home robots and be on the forefront of mass produced robots.
Bridge the gap between Mayfield’s Manufacturing and Software teams Help Manufacturing Engineers turn requirements into high-quality software Document and create a maintainable way to keep manufacturing line up to date and reproducible Work with Test Engineers to develop reliable subassembly and end-of-line tests Work with IT Specialists to deploy and maintain our networking infrastructure at the contract manufacturer’s site Bake security into the manufacturing and software provisioning processes Continuously improve, automate, and parallelize assembly line steps in order to reduce cycle time and variability while increasing quality and throughput 25-50% travel to China in order to support manufacturing and deploy software
Nice to Have:
Has shipped a robotics, IoT, or high-volume consumer-electronics product Has experience supporting manufacturing operations or has worked in a factory-facing role Understanding of data acquisition and signal processing (for example FFT; Fast Fourier Transform)
